Only with old friends can we be so truthful about everything in our lives. We tend to talk deeper and genuinely feel happy for their progress because we have seen how much they have had to go through to be at where they are now. No judgement involved even when topics may sometimes involve burning our own scars. Yet, it is alright because they have seen through your scar. We laugh and we cry, and for that moment nothing else matters.
Here is my absolute favourite phrase from a very precious friend that day:
"I think we have reach the age to simply tell a person when we miss him/her. We are too old for games. And we dont know what might happen next. So just have some courage and take the phone and tell the person how you are feeling right now. Things might have change from there. Otherwise, the worse that could have happen is that you will return back to square one.
All we need is that 1 second of courage, and things could have taken a very different route."
